Senior Mechanical Engineer (Hybrid - Wilmington, DE Area) – Facilities & Infrastructure Projects

What You’ll Do
As a senior technical and project leader, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of facilities-based mechanical engineering projects. You’ll design, guide, and execute solutions that impact lives—bringing modern HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and fire protection systems to life across government and civic sectors. This is a hands-on, high-trust role where your expertise directly shapes outcomes.
- Lead mechanical and plumbing design efforts – from domestic and sanitary systems to complex HVAC and ductwork layouts
- Conduct field investigations, HVAC load studies, and energy modeling
- Develop and QA design documents (drawings/specs) for construction and bidding
- Guide junior engineers and coordinate multi-discipline design teams
- Manage project budgets, schedules, scopes, and risk assessments
- Collaborate with clients, code officials, and permitting agencies
- Present to stakeholders and support business development
- Create quality assurance plans and own delivery from concept to construction support
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 12+ years of experience designing and specifying HVAC and plumbing systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT with ability to obtain PE within 6–12 months
- Hands-on proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and building load simulation tools (IESVE, Carrier HAP)
- Strong command of mechanical, energy, and plumbing codes
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- A mindset of ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement
- Willingness to travel occasionally for field work
Bonus Points For
- Certification in commissioning (CxA, BCxP)
- PMP, CAPM, or related project management credentials
- Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, or P3 delivery models
- Federal, state, or municipal agency client exposure
- Experience with industrial mechanical systems or fire protection
