Lead/Senior Traffic Engineering - Columbia, SC Based


Are you a traffic engineering pro with a passion for building smarter, safer roads? Our client, a leading engineering firm, is on the hunt for a Senior Traffic Engineer who's ready to take the wheel and drive their traffic practice to the next level across the Palmetto State.


You’ll be the go-to expert, mentor, and business builder, leading top-notch projects while growing client relationships and opening up new opportunities across the region.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Be the face of traffic engineering for South Carolina - leading strategy, growing client connections, and developing new market opportunities.
  • Manage and design a wide range of traffic projects: signal design, signing and pavement markings, crash analysis, MOT plans, lighting, traffic studies - you name it.
  • Write proposals that win. Drive business development. Get in front of clients and show them what the firm can do.
  • Guide, mentor, and grow your team - be the leader they’ll look up to.
  • Collaborate with contractors, agencies, and stakeholders to bring smart traffic solutions to life.


Your Superpowers:

  • A natural leader with a technical edge and a business-savvy mindset.
  • A track record of traffic studies, planning, design, and project management success.
  • Experience with SCDOT policies and procedures - you speak their language.
  • Comfortable with traffic engineering tools and software, and fluent in MS Office.
  • Excellent communicator - written, verbal, and everything in between.


What You Bring to the Table:

  • 10+ years of hands-on traffic engineering experience (planning, design, analysis).
  • BSCE from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in South Carolina.
  • (Bonus points for) PTOE certification.
  • Strong familiarity with SCDOT standards and experience working with them.
  • Proficiency with one or more traffic analysis/simulation tools (Synchro, VISSIM, etc.).
